A Guide to Feeding our Future

coconut aminos

Coconut Liquid Aminos are my favorite product to talk about right now.

I love this product because it’s a great alternative to soy sauce, it’s higher in aminos acids than soy, and it’s always gluten-free. Using just the coconut sap and good quality sea salt, this makes for a mighty tasty sauce.

Many people are discovering they are allergic or sensitive to soy, or are steering clear of soy due to its role in affecting our hormonal system and immune function.

Soy is one food where MSG is created naturally.  Many people react to MSG that is manufactured and not naturally occurring; many react to both.  In any case, all soy sauces contain MSG, and don’t have to be labeled by the manufacturers because it’s IN the soy itself, it’s not an added product (there are many foods like this – if you’d like to know more about which ones, click here).

We also know that soy is one of the most genetically modified foods, and has been since 2008/2009. Any soy products that can be certified GMO-free must have been so for 3 generations of soy production at least.

Needless to say, I understand if you just don’t know how or which soy products are trustworthy anymore.  For many, soy sauce is one product that’s difficult to cut out entirely.

There are many other coconut aminos products on the market these days.  The one I’m most familiar with is “Coconut Secret- Raw Soy-Free Seasoning Sauce”.  It tastes a lot like soy sauce, naturally a bit sweeter, but can easily be used as a replacement in any dish, dressing, sauce or drizzle.  It’s all good! It’s organic, certified GMO-free, gluten-free and dairy-free.
